Koenigsegg Agera to Sell in India

Great news for the Indians who have more than enough money to satisfy their each and every need: the luxury and supercar market in the country is quickly expanding, and that means more brands, more muscle, more power, more means to show off.

Following closely in the path laid by neighboring China this past two or three years, India is opening its borders to all the big names which have shaped the automotive industry: Bentley, Bugati and Lamborghini. And the latest newcomer to the pack is Swedish wonder-on-wheels builder Koenigsegg.

Having entered a cone of shadow following the shot-and-miss Saab affair, the Swedish super sports car maker has reverted from corporate battles to what it knows best: impressing people. And its next targets are Indians.

The manufacturer has established a partnership with InterGlobe Enterprises which would allow it to enter the local market, craving for more super sports cars. And the first model to get there is, according to Business Standard, the Agera.

The model will be launched next month in Hyderabad and will sell for Rs 9.6-10 crore. For that, the Indian buyer will get all the goodies everyone else gets: 4.7l V8 engine that produces 898 horsepower at 6,850 rpm and 1,100 Nm of torque at 5,100 rpm, a naught to sixty acceleration time of 3.1 seconds and a top speed that would get them somewhere in the vicinity of 390 km/h (242 mph).

Koenigsegg plans to reveal at the Geneva Auto Show in March an even more powerful version of the Agera, the R, based on the one-off car created for the Oman Royal family.
