Kia Venga Production Moved to Slovakia

Kia has shifted production of their Venga compact MPV from the factory in the Czech Republic to another European factory in Zilina, Slovakia. This is also where the cee’d family of vehicles and the Sportage crossover are put together for the larger European market.
As for the Venga, this little people mover isn’t exactly the biggest star in the product offering, but it has managed to scoop red dot design award in 2010 in the "product design" category for the compact MPV's departure from the conventional mini-van profile.

It’s also got the 5-Start Euro NCAP safety rating, which it can boast with after Kia fixed an issue with the seat belts. The Venga was first tested by Euro NCAP in early 2010, and received just four stars. Kia’s engineers subsequently made a number of minor changes to the car and brought Venga back to Euro NCAP for retesting. The current, revised, model has entered production in September 2010.

All Vengas sold in Europe come with ABS with Brake Assist System (BAS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC) with Hill Assist Control (HAC), six airbags (dual front, side and full-length curtain), front passenger airbag cut-off switch, active front head rests, all-round three-point seatbelts with front-belt pre-tensioners and reminder warning, ISOFIX child seat top tethers and anchors and impact-sensing auto door unlocking.

The Zilina plant is expanding to include a third shift and a second engine shop and will employ and extra 1,000 staff bringing the total to 4,000 employees.
