Having announced the pricing and specifications for the US-spec EV9 recently, Kia is now gearing up the Australian launch of the electric crossover, which has officially touched down at dealers locally.
The zero-emission model comes in two trim levels for now, called the Air and GT-Line, with the mid-spec Earth to follow from early next year. The most affordable version of the car features a single-motor powertrain, whereas the other two pack a dual-motor setup and a larger battery pack with a 99.8 kWh capacity.

Choosing the base variant, which has a recommended retail price of AU$97,000 (equaling US$62,300), means having to live with 160 kilowatts (218 ps/214 hp) produced by the electric motor and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque. The Korean automaker quotes 8.2 seconds for the 0-100 kph (0-62 mph) acceleration and a WLTP range of 443 km (275 miles).

Pricing goes up to at least AU$106,500 (US$68,401) for the EV9 Earth trim level, which uses a dual-motor powertrain for a total of 283 kW (385 ps/379 hp) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque. It takes 6.0 seconds to hit 100 kph (62 mph) and has a 512 km (318 miles) range. The GT-Line range-topper enjoys the same output and thrust as the Earth, is 0.7 seconds quicker, can travel 505 km (314 miles) on a single charge, and starts at AU$121,000 (US$77,714).

The most affordable Kia EV9 comes with 19-inch alloys, LED DRLs and taillights, power-folding side mirrors, auto-flush door handles, faux leather upholstery, 12.3-inch infotainment system, 12.3-inch digital dials, wireless charging pad, heated and ventilated front seats, fingerprint authentication, and a generous range of safety systems. The mid-spec adds ambient lighting and more safety gear, in addition to other things, and the range-topper features 21-inch wheels, LED headlamps, rear privacy windows, digital side mirrors, a sunroof, etc.

Kia's EV9 has 3,100 mm (122 in) between the axles, is 5,010 mm (197.2 in) long, 1,980 mm (78 in) wide, and 1,755 mm (69.1 in) tall, with the GT-Line adding 25 mm (1 in) to the height due to its bridge-type roof rails. With all three rows in place, it has a 333-liter (11.8 cu-ft) cargo space, which increases to 828 liters (29.2 cu-ft) with the third row folded down and 2,318 liters (81.9 cu-ft) behind the front seats.

In the United States, the 2024 Kia EV9 is offered in five grades, kicking off from $54,900 for the base grade, which is called the Light RWD. The Light Long Range RWD starts at $59,200. The Wind e-AWD and Land e-AWD trim levels can be had from $63,900 and $69,900, respectively, whereas the top-of-the-line version of the brand's flagship electric crossover can become yours from $73,900. All prices exclude the $1,495 destination charge.
