Drifting fans all know about the hero of Gymkhana TEN: Ultimate Tire Slaying Tour, a stanced classic F-150 dubbed the Hoonitruck. Today, we got to check out that very beast at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
This is not only Block's child, but also Ford's pride and joy put together with a lot of their time and know-how. The 1977 F-150 truck features some super-serious construction and is powered by a Ford GT engine, not the road-going version, but the one used by the Le Mans race car, which would explain the sound
Yes, not very well hidden under that hood is a 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost. Those red turbo scoops should be your main clue that something is not normal here. The second would be us telling you that it makes over 900 horsepower and 702 lb-ft (952 Nm) of torque.
Most of the body parts are recreated to the likeness of the original truck using modern military-grade aluminum. A full body kit in the style of modern drift cars was added on top, along with a trunk wing straight out of Nascar.
Unfortunately, not all the bodywork survived the ordeal, as during his hill climb, the Monster Energy driver lost his left front fender. But that was before doing some donuts in front of a big crowd.
“This project has been in the works for about 2 years,” said Block. “I’m beyond pleased with how it turned out, it’s simply one of the most badass and unique vehicles I’ve seen in a long time and I think it compliments my Hoonicorn perfectly. It’s also crazy to be throwing something around that’s this size when doing Gymkhana-style driving. But, it looks absolutely wild on camera, and that was our goal from the start. I can’t wait for the fans to be able to see it in action, I think they’re gonna love it!”
