Karolina Kurkova for 2011 Mercedes Benz CLS Campaign

The association between beautiful women and fast cars has become a marketing cliche over the years, but it still seems to be a catchy move, so the collaboration between Czech model Karolina Kurkova and German brand Mercedes-Benz is not a surprise.

The Victoria's Secret Angel has accepted to become the new face of the 2011 Mercedes-Benz CLS coupe, replacing Milla Jovovich, in a new campaign titled “Captivated.”

Created by Craig McDean in close collaboration with British creative director David James, the campaign will officially launch during Berlin Fashion Week this month.

Kurkova says that the CLS is “a beautifully smooth and luxurious car that immediately appealed to me. It has these fascinating contours that I wanted to convey with my body language during the shooting. I can imagine myself behind the wheel of the Mercedes-Benz CLS. It fits my style. Since I recently got my driving license, I need to gain more experience driving. And I’m sure that would be great fun with the new CLS.”

The new Mercedes-Benz CLS comes with a choice of five interior colours, five trim part variants and three types of leather.

Initially, there will be two six-cylinder models available starting this month: the CLS 350 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY developing 265 hp and the CLS 350 BlueEFFICIENCY developing 306 hp and including the ECO start/stop function as standard. Pricing was set at EUR63,427 and EUR64,617, respectively.

According to Mercedes-Benz, all of the engines in the CLS are new and help to guarantee an improvement in fuel consumption of up to 25 percent and a higher output compared with the previous models. Moreover, the CLS also premiered the use of the electromechanical Direct-Steer system.
