Johnson: Daughter's Initials Spell GM

So what, we dare ask? A big deal, apparently, as quite a bunch of editors in the online media (that includes us now) jumped to tell the tale of NASCAR's reigning champion's daughter, whose name is Genevieve Marie (GM, all cry).

Genevieve Marie Johnson was born last Wednesday, with the four time NASCAR champion receiving a flood of congrats, pats on the shoulder and countless pieces of advice. Most of them, as you might have already guessed, come from his colleagues and fans.

Later last week, Johnson followed Jeff Gordon's advice of giving the girl a name and chose Genevieve Marie. A name which immediately rang many, many bells in some editors' heads.

“We all have different ways of showing our loyalty to our favorite companies. Some of us wear their T-shirts, some of us write songs in their honor, some of us even get tattoos to brand ourselves forever with our corporate love,” Jay Busbee writes on Yahoo Sports.

“But Jimmie Johnson, as he so often does, has gone and trumped us all. As reported first on Johnson's Twitter feed, the family has named his brand-new daughter Genevieve Marie.”

So, he happily concludes, that spells GM. As in the GM-made Impala driven by Johnson.

Yes, it does, but we bet it has nothing to do with that. The initials are, just as Johnson's Twitter feed reads, a coincidence.

To wrap it up, we join the crowd in saying congratulations. Oh, and one more thing. Get some sleep, Johnson. You're gonna need it...
