Jezza McWilliams to Ride for Harley at Indy MotoGP

It looks like former MotoGP star Jezza McWilliams will make a return to the MotoGP arena at the Red Bull Indianapolis GP August 26–28. The 2010 UK Harley–Davidson XR1200 Trophy Champion will race in the AMA Pro Vance & Hines XR1200 series.

McWilliams will return to the AMA ⁄ MotoGP paddock and will ride for Harley–Davidson of Bloomington, Indiana for this special event with support from Warr's Racing & Warr's Customs.

Jeff Stevens, owner of Harley–Davidson of Bloomington, is a current AHDRA drag racer, three time national championship rider, and team owner with many years of experience on the track – he is the 2010 H-D⁄Screamin’ Eagle V-Rod Destroyer Champion. Being a racer himself he understands the demands of running at the front of the field.

"When we found out the AMA Pro Vance & Hines XR1200 races were coming to Indiana we knew we were going to be part of it. To be able to race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and have McWilliams ride for us is truly a fantastic opportunity. Racing is an important part of H–D of Bloomington," Stevens said.

It will be the Brickyard debut for AMA Pro Racing's newest class, which features intense competition on nearly identical Harley-Davidson XR1200 motorcycles. This is the second season for the AMA Pro Vance & Hines XR1200 division, which features handlebar–to-handlebar action that puts a premium on rider skill and strategy due to spec-based machinery.

The AMA Pro Vance & Hines XR1200 division adds a fourth class of racing to the Red Bull Indianapolis GP weekend, as it joins the three World Championship classes – MotoGP, Moto2 and 125cc – competing on the 16–turn, 2.621–mile circuit that combines part of the famed IMS oval with an infield section.
