Jeep Compass Only Receives Two-Star Euro NCAP Rating

Euro NCAP annually raises the criteria for a five-star rating and the organisation has not only announced the 2012 rules, but also released its first test results for this year. We are talkign about the Jeep Compass and the new Honda Civic - while the latter achieved a five-star rating, the first disappointed, only managing to achieve two starts, one of the lowest scores among new cars on the market today.
For this piece of news, we’ll focus on the Compass, which received a 61 percent score for adult occupant protection, 76 percent for child occupant protection, 23 percent for pedestrian protection and 43 percent for safety assist.

During the frontal impact, the passenger cell held its shape well, but dash structures posed a risk of injury to the knees and femurs of both front occupants. In the side impact (the vehicle came with the optional side thorax airbag), dummy readings showed a high risk of serious chest injury, while in the side barrier test, the vehicle received the maximum number of points.

As for the rear impact, the Compass provided marginal protection against whiplash injuries, with the car being tested without its active head restraint - even though this is a standard feature, Jeep dind’s demonstrate that it works perfectly for various speeds and crash severities.
