Jay Leno Shows Off His 1937 Cord 810/812 Sedan

As far as pretty cars from the 1930 go, few cars are as pretty as the Cord 810/812. Jay Leno is lucky enough to own such a unique car, which was originally intended to wear a Duesenberg badge, but in the end was forced to adopt a Cord one instead, due to the ‘state of the economy’.
The car, which is virtually devoid of chrome, has rear-hinged front doors, which are exactly the same shape as the rear one. The doors also feature hidden hinges, which just add to the overall clean look of the design.

It featured lots of cutting edge details (for the late 1930s, that is), such as pop-up headlights, concealed fuel-filler cap, variable-speed windshield wipers (most cars of the era did not have them at all, and if they did, they were manually-operated).

The car caused a real stir when it was first revealed at the 1935 New York Auto Show, crowds gathered around it to catch a glimpse of it. To find out more about this V8-powered time machine, watch the whole video by Jay Leno.
