For some people, enough is never enough and they just want more and more as their wealth increases. One such man is Masakuni Hosobuchi, the chairman of BMW Club Japan and the only person in the world that can actually say he owns one of every M model ever made. Actually, that statement would’ve been a lie until not too long ago.
That’s because there was one essential piece that was missing from his arsenal: a BMW M1. He owned one but it was in poor condition. Therefore, he sent it to BMW to have it restored and done in a special livery.
His Procar was delivered this weekend, after being restored by the BMW Classic branch, at the BMW Welt Museum. The 1979 model is wearing the ‘Yes to the Nurburgring’ livery and the names of Nelson Piquet and Hans-Joachim Stuck on the doors.
At the delivery he was introduced to the car by Ralf Vierlein from BMW Group Classic, Helmut Käs, head of BMW Welt, Tom Tischler and Ulrich Knieps, Head of BMW Group Classic.
Hosobuchi’s collection now has the complete M lineup, including rare models such as the original 3.0CSL (also known as the Batmobile), the original M6 (or M635i) and every other M car dating back to the1960s 1970s. That’s truly a BMW fan’s dream garage he has. Hopefully, he’ll keep the tradition alive in the future as well.
