Jaguar XE Fresh Details

A brand new Jaguar XE is currently in the making but the British manufacturer tries to keep all things secret and reveal some new info every once in a while. The latest coverage on the subject is hinting that the XE roadster will be boasting a new grille design, similar to the one seen on XF and XJ sedans.

However, engineers haven't finished the lines of the grille as its shape must fit the new front fascia of the car, autocar.co.uk wrote a few days ago. Jaguar has to resolve several issues before finally rolling out the new XE, which was expected to hit the stores sooner.

According to the aforementioned source, a new subject of debates is the size of the upcoming XK, with some people emphasizing that the future model has to be bigger and provide more luxurious features.

This way, the XK would make room in Jaguar's lineup for a smaller and cheaper model, the source explains citing a company insider.

Meanwhile, Jaguar is also working on the engines of the car which, according to various sources, will be specifically optimized for improved efficiency and reduced emissions.

Separately, Jaguar launched the new XJ range at the Frankfurt Auto Show, with the car to be offered with a choice of four engine configurations. The powerful supercharged 510 PS 5.0-litre AJ-V8 Gen III will head the line-up, with a 0-60mph time of 4.7 secs (0-100kph in 4.9 secs); 470 PS supercharged and 385 PS naturally aspirated petrol V8s are also available, dependent on market.

Diesels come in the form of a 3.0-liter unit that develops 275 PS and propels the car from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.4 seconds. It releases 184 grams of CO2 per kilometer and achieves a fuel consumption rating of 40.1 mpg (7.04 l/100km).
