Jaguar Land Rover is approaching the closing of a deal with Chinese carmaker Chery Automobile, which will see the British company build cars in China. According to various media sources cited by autocar, the JLR-Chery agreement could receive an official confirmation this week. The deal comes after many years of negotiations, in which JLR has sought potential partners for Chinese production.
It seems that the companies have already completed the negotiations and are now in the phase of seeking regulatory approval.

It is expected that the Chinese-build Jaguars and Land Rover will only be destined for the domestic market, where JLR runs almost 100 dealerships. The company’s best sellers on the world’s largest auto markets are the Land Rover SUVs.
