Jaguar Land Rover To Debut Chinese Production

Back in 2008, Jaguar and Land Rover were acquired by the Indian Tata Motors Group, becoming Jaguar Land Rover.

The Indian company has been constantly boosting the two brands ever since, with both English marques becoming stronger and offering positive perspectives.

The evolution process means that the brands will give birth to exciting new models but it also means that their assembly will have to be outsourced to countries that offer a low-cost production alternative, in order to keep the financial results in the positive area.

Last week, we reported that Land Rover will move a part of its assembly operations to India, with the location set for Prune (no additional details available).

Now, various media reports indicate that Tata Motors is seeking a partner for producing Jaguars and Land Rovers in China. The Indian automotive producer will establish a joint-venture with a Chinese company in order to produce vehicles belonging to these brands in the country.

The sources indicate that Tata has established a cost-cutting plan for China starting from August last year. This includes the aforementioned move that will allow the company to expand the production capacity for the two brands and will also strengthen its Chinese dealer network.

As for the Jaguar Land Rover future plans, these include a number of new models that will enhance the brand’s position on the market. In addition to that, both brands will debut new entry-level models that will make them available to a wider public.
