It's been more than once when we wondered why Suzuki is neglecting the entry-level riders in the European and North American markets. With all the big manufacturers so fiercely battling in the small-displacement category, Suzuki has strangely kept away from all this.
With the 250-300cc sport bikes becoming increasingly popular among new riders, it's obvious that the worldwide market has a huge potential for such bikes.

Therefore, adding a model to the ever-growing segment could be a lucrative move, especially as the development and testing for a quarter-liter machine is significantly cheaper than for a big-bore bike.

So far, Hamamatsu has only silence as an answer for the Western markets. Still, the recent Gixer SF launched in India may bring some hope, after all. No confirmation arrived as to whether Suzuki is planning to deliver a quarter-lier-ish sport bike, but seeing the Gixxer SF offered in the MotoGP livery, besides the classic black and white versions might be a sign.

Suzuki is doing well in MotoGP

Suzuki is doing well in MotoGP, and recently had two bikes on the front row of the grid in Barcelona, with Aleix Espargaro in pole. Even though Espargaro crashed out, Vinales went on to score big points in his rookie year, as he finished in the 6th position.

Fourth in the manufacturers' standings, Suzuki is doing much better than Aprilia and only seems to become more and more competitive with their GSX-RR machine. It goes without saying that they could capitalize on their (new) first year in MotoGP, especially if offering a premier class livery for the potential 300cc bike.

People in the mentioned markets are enjoying the small-displacement Honda and Kawasaki, and are also waiting for the Yamaha R3 to show up in dealerships. It goes without saying that such a Suzuki machine would sell well, especially if offered for the right price. Who knows, maybe EICMA 2015 will see this small-displacement bike...
