Even though at first I thought that there was some “unholy” CGI involved in this video, things seem to be for real… as crazy as they seem. Now, this is one type of bike-drifting we just don’t get to see too often, and watching this display of awesome insanity not ending in blood and maimed limbs makes it even crazier.
Apparently, this story takes place in Thailand, on a casual road drenched in water, so I was expecting some plain old aquaplaning and maybe a terribly silly crash at the end, but it looks like this fellow managed to surprise anyone. To be honest, I can’t tell whether this happened by mistake and it was only luck that prevented this guy from meeting the ER doctors, or he had been actually practicing this stunt.
Seeing two-wheelers drift so wildly was a thing reserved to ABS testing, with wheeled side-arms preventing the bike from flipping while braking hard on slippery surfaces. As cool the stunt is, it’s still disturbing as the rider is not wearing any kind of protection for his head.
As for the technical considerations, some fellows say that if a rider’s legs are long enough for a firm foothold while seated, such a stunt should be easier. I still say that luck accounts for more than half the success of this stunt, and I’m glad there’s no blood in the video, so I could show it to you.
