IIHS Study: Child Seats too Hard to Install

According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), it’s not really your fault for not being able to safely and easily install a child seat. Out of 100 best selling vehicles they looked at, only under a quarter met their criteria for easy installment.
So automakers are actually to blame for making the Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children (LATCH) hard to use.

“Installing a child restraint isn’t always as simple as a couple of clicks and you’re done,” said Anne McCartt, IIHS senior vice president for research. “Sometimes parents blame themselves when they struggle with LATCH, but oftentimes the problem lies with the vehicle, not the user.”
