The 2013 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is about two months away and things are starting to heat up among competitors, especially where there’s a case of factory support.
Hyundai Motorsports USA is one of the automakers that’s anxiously waiting to take yet another start in the “Race to the Clouds”, after Rhys Millen set an all-time record in 2012 while driving a modified Genesis Coupe.
In order to live up to their names, both Hyundai and Miller are working hard to complete the ultimate Genesis Coupe, which is said to be about 1,000 lbs (453 kg) lighter that last year’s version, due to extensive titanium and carbon fiber use. Powered by a 900 HP-developing V6 mill, the altered Genesis is bound to be a serious Unlimited Class contender.
To showcase their latest vehicle, Hyundai Motorsports and Rhys Millen Racing have debuted the 12-episode “Defending Pikes Peak” series. Already released on Youtube, the first two short installments can be watched below.
