Hyundai's 2024 Tucson Spied on Towing Duty, Prototype Kind Enough To Show More of Its Face

The fourth-generation Hyundai Tucson is three years old, so the Korean automaker is prepping its mid-cycle refresh. That's right, despite the heavy camouflage hiding the mild revisions of scooped testers these past few months, the 2024 Tucson will be a facelift, unlike the bigger Santa Fe that has been completely renewed.
The last time we wrote about it, it was on towing duty, and that has stayed the same. However, the camouflage has become slightly thinner up front, revealing a bit more of the face. And while at first glance, it may look identical to the current one, there are some key upgrades here.

For one, the lighting signature has been revised, and there is a new grille between them. We can also see that the front bumper was redesigned, and it features a smaller intake that seems to have been separated in the middle by a vertical slat. That huge hump out back is still present, and it prevents us from seeing the rear end. Nonetheless, in all likelihood, it will get a new bumper and a pair of different taillights.

We still cannot see the interior, but it has been reported that it will at least get new software for the digital gauges and infotainment system. A new steering wheel could be part of the mid-cycle refresh, alongside an updated center console that will still be home to the electric parking brake and minimalist gear selector. Hyundai will probably round things off by giving it new upholstery and trim, expanding the exterior color palette, and introducing new wheels.

On this side of the pond, the Tucson comes with a four-cylinder 2.5-liter engine that churns out 187 hp (190 ps/140 kW) and kicks out 178 lb-ft (241 Nm) of torque. Base models have to make do with front-wheel drive, yet the all-wheel drive system is available across the lineup. It is possible that it will carry over unchanged in this department. The Tucson Hybrid and Tucson Plug-in Hybrid will still make up the family, with 226 hp (229 ps/169 kW) and 261 hp (265 ps/195 kW), respectively.

Chances are once it launches, the 2024 Hyundai Tucson will get a small price hike. The current one starts at $26,900 with the 2.5L unit under the hood, whereas the Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid variants have respective MSRPs of $31,350 and $37,500. It will retain the platform, otherwise shared with the Sonata, Staria, Santa Cruz, and Sportage, as well as the Kia Sorento, Carnival, and others. Nonetheless, we can expect some mild chassis revisions on certain models. More on that when it premieres, likely for the 2024 model year, though we would not be surprised if it launches in the United States as a 2025 model.
