Hyundai recorded their best ever August sales figures, in the US, having sold no fewer than 61,099 units (up from last August’s total of 58,505). However, dealer are not stockpiling cars like other dealers are doing, but rather the customers are queueing up to buy them, and the cars are selling very well.
The dealers are very pleased with this situation, as Scott Fink, chairman of the Hyundai National Dealer Council says: "Years ago, I remember, if we wanted cars, especially domestically made cars, there were tens of thousands of cars on the ground in Alabama [. . .] Now there's none. We don't have enough cars, the manufacturer doesn't have enough cars, and we have consumers standing in line to buy our cars. It's a far better situation.” - the dealership he runs sold 555 new cars last month.

For instance, while Ford dealers usually have a 56-day supply of cars, Toyota dealers have 40-days supply, and Hyundai dealers only have a 29-day supply of new cars to sell, despite the fact that industry standards say that the ideal number which the dealers should be aiming for is, in fact, 60.
