If you’ve ever been in a big SUV with a lot of body roll, there was probably a moment when you felt a bit sick or at leas dizzy from all the swinging. The Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) system on the new Toyota Land Cruiser was fine tuned to achieve both comfort and increase the vehicle’s maneuverability.
The system works by adjusting suspension performance for all four wheels independently, modifying the damping force of each shock absorber.
The AVS will increase the damping force as the vehicle’s speed rises, while at low speeds it will offer a softer setting to filter all bumps and road deformations.
Another function of the Advanced Variable Suspension system is to keep the vehicle’s body flat, to prevent body-roll when entering a corner, the dive and squat motions when braking and accelerating.
