Tinted lights look awesome on every car, but before turning them black you should check if your local road regulations allow such transformation.
The process is pretty easy, but you have to be patient in order to apply the tinted foil correctly and not create creases which will totally spoil the effect. You will need special tinting foil which you can get from any accessories shops, the plastic spatula (probably comes with the foil), a precision cutter, heat gun and a solution made of 85% water and 15% rubbing alcohol (make sure it’s 70% alcohol, not 90%) which you will have to spray over the taillights.

The procedure is as following:
  • Properly wash the taillights first and dry the surface with a microfiber cloth so it won’t leave lints
  • Pulverize the alcohol solution described above both on the taillamp and the tinted foil
  • Place the foil on the taillight and stretch in as much as you can
  • Spray some solution on the stretched foil
  • Take the heat gun and blow hot air over the foil, then take the plastic spatula and further stretch the foil by removing air bubbles from under it
  • Make sure you don’t overheat the foil and that it has enough sprayed solution over and under it before you start
  • After stretching the foil, take the cutter and carefully remove the excess foil around the taillamp
  • Use the heat gun and plastic spatula again if needed.
