If you see any oil leaks between your Toyota Corolla’s cylinder head and its cover, it means that the gasket between the two parts is shot and you need to replace it.
The job is not that easy because of the amount of parts you need to take off before reaching the actual gasket. So if you’ve decided to do it yourself, take a day off and full toolbox before you start. Here are the main steps:

- Leave the engine cool off before starting the job
- Disconnect the battery
- Remove the engine cover by unscrewing the bolts on top
- Disconnect the electrical wires from all the ignition coils
- Remove the bolts and take out the ignition coils
- Remove the ignition coils support
- Disconnect the two hoses connected to the valve cover
- Unscrew the 8 bolts fixing the cover to the cylinder head
- Lift the cover and take the worn gasket out
- Put the new gasket in and carefully bolt down the cover again
- Mount all the parts back just as you took them out.
