The side rearview mirrors are among the components that gets damaged all the time. Either by you not being careful when driving on a narrow street, or other drivers suffering from the same distraction issue.
Normally, when you get your side mirror damaged, you’ll hit the service to get it fixed, but if you want to save time and money, you can do it yourself as it is a simple and quick repair.

This tutorial serves for changing the left hand mirror on a 2008 Toyota Prius, but it should work on other year models as well. You will need a new mirror and some screwdrivers.

The tricky part is that you have to dismantle the door panel in order to access the cables that run to the mirror as well as the screws that hold it on the door, but it won’t be such a problem as you will find out what you need to unscrew in the video bellow.

Next step is a piece of cake. All you have to do is disconnect the mirror wires, unscrew it from the door, take it out and put the new one in by doing the same steps backwards. Also you may want to use the old mirror’s outer shell if it’s intact and the new one doesn’t come with one.
