If you’ve decided to turn your Toyota Tercel into a road warrior or simply want to change that old stereo, here’s a little tutorial on how to take it out.
To do the job, you’ll need a flathead screwdriver, a Phillips screwdriver and about 10 minutes of spare time. Here are the steps:
Turn off the ignition
Use the thin flathead screwdriver and pry open the plastic trim around the stereo unit
Remove it and locate the four screws keeping the stereo in place
Take them out and slide the whole unit out
Unplug the electric wires at the back
Adapt the metal rack from the old stereo to the new one if the aftermarket product comes without one.
