If you’ve decided to turn your Toyota Tercel into a road warrior or simply want to change that old stereo, here’s a little tutorial on how to take it out.
To do the job, you’ll need a flathead screwdriver, a Phillips screwdriver and about 10 minutes of spare time. Here are the steps:
  • Turn off the ignition
  • Use the thin flathead screwdriver and pry open the plastic trim around the stereo unit
  • Remove it and locate the four screws keeping the stereo in place
  • Take them out and slide the whole unit out
  • Unplug the electric wires at the back
  • Adapt the metal rack from the old stereo to the new one if the aftermarket product comes without one.
