In order to replace the sparkplugs or simply unmount the whole piston heads of your Toyota 1.6-liter gasoline VVTi engine, you’ll first have to take the ignition coils out of the way.
The process is very easy and you’ll only need a 10 mm socket ratchet and a screwdriver. Here are the steps:
  • Let the engine cool off
  • Open the hood and remove the screws from the engine plastic cover
  • Take the plastic cover out
  • Disconnect the electrical wiring from all the ignition coils
  • Unscrew and remove all the bolts holding the coils fixed
  • Take the ignition coils out and continue with your planned work.
