How to Draw a Porsche 911 Targa

Ask this editor what's the best looking Porsche right now and he will "hand on heart" point to the 911 Targa. There's talk of a Turbo version but even without 500 horsepower this car is different enough because it combines the best of the current 911 with the ones that came before it.
In what we consider a fitting tribute to the work of those people who designed the new 911 Targa, we thought it'd be really cool to show how to draw one and in the process gain a better appreciation of how difficult it is to draw something that looks so simple.

In 2D, the trick roof action is lost in translation, but the open-air sensation of not having a roof is amplified. The Targa roof is an unmistakable hallmark for the German brand which has been redesigned in an innovative way. Instead of having to do all the work for yourself, the car creates a beautifully orchestrated movement in order to stow its top behind the rear window in just 19 seconds.

You have to give the new 911 part of the credit here. Longer, leaner and lower than the old 997, it's become the perfect version of itself. It has unmistakable design features like bulging fenders that look like shoulders forming over the wings and distinctive round headlights tilted to the perfect angle for a streamlined look.

All the different elements look boring on their own, but bring them together as the perfect sum. But enough tooting Porsche's horn. It's time to watch a video and put pen to paper!
