Do not be alarmed, Porsche has not decided to replace the most character-filled cars it has to offer with a simple rag-top. The 911 you see in these pictures is wearing a vinyl wrap to disguise its new Targa top and make it look like an ordinary convertible.
And what a beautiful Targa design it is, much more like the original design than anything else. This design was first seen on the 911 from 1965 and was kept until 1994.
The new 911 has plenty of modern versions, and even hardcore track cars, to for the Targa a bit of retro styling is in order. This car, expected for the 2014 model year, will have a fixed roll bar in place followed by a huge glass structure.
Not many details are known about the construction of the roof, however, the body of this prototype appears to have the same body as the 911 Carrera Convertible.
