Have you encountered an incoming car at night that had one of its headlamps way offset that it was blinding you? That’s because one of its headlights was pointing upwards and if you don’t want to blind people you should check and adjust yours.
Doing it on a 1995-2000 Toyota Corolla is fairly easy and all you need is some duct tape and a 10mm socket ratchet. Here are the steps.

- Place your Corolla in front of a wall, facing it from about 2 meters or so
- Make sure the vehicle is standing on an even ground and turn on the headlights
- Go to the wall and mark with some duct tape the spots where the beams hit
- At that distance, the light spots should be at a level just above your knees
- If not, you should adjust them
- Open the hood and locate the two screws on each headlight
- Turn the screws clockwise to point the headlamps upward or anti-clockwise to point downward.
