For those who are new to the auto industry and its tendencies, some vehicles, like the Lexus LX 470, use an undercarriage system for the spare tire and you have to know how to access it in case of need.
Accessing the Lexus LX’s spare tire implies a bit more work than just opening the tailgate and grabbing it from under the fake floor, as it’s located under the vehicle and you need to turn a screw in order to make it come off. Here’s how to do it in case you got a flat tire:
- Park the car on a flat surface and assure its position by engaging the parking brake and putting the transmission in park mode
- Open the tailgate and find the compartment containing the jacking tools according to the video
- Assemble the long tire wrench and insert it in the special hole to lower the spare tire
- Rotate the lever clockwise until the spare hits the ground
- Push the rectangle holder down and rotate it upwards to fit it through the center hub and remove the spare wheel
- Now you can loosen the flat tire’s nuts, jack up the car, remove the nuts and the wheel in order to replace it with the spare.
