Few of us know the extent to which BMW goes in order to make sure that their cars have the perfect soundtrack. BMW published a video on its Youtube channel as a tribute to the sound engineers that make sure your car sounds just right.
Whilst developing a car at the Munich headquarters of BMW, everything has to be perfect in order to make it on the market and eventually in a customer's garage. Even the seatbelt clunk has to have a special, unique sound.
"If I engineer a seatbelt clunk that's so annoying it makes you want to get out of your car, then I've done something wrong," says Emar Vegt, Sound Designer at BMW.
Sound design is extremely important when developing a car. In order to get the most out of you driving experience, the sounds have to be functional and pleasant at the same time.
In recent years, sound design has become so important that BMW went as far as balancing the overall sound of the car through the speaker system in order for you to experience the sheer driving pleasure Bimmers are known for.
