Living in a big city can become stressful pretty fast. You have to deal with the noise, the traffic, the neighbors, the pollution and all sorts of problems. Moving to the countryside was the best choice I've made in years.
Living life in the fast lane sounds like fun if you're a speed addict. However, it can be hard to cope with after a while. It applies to multiple things in life. If you spend eight hours each day looking, buying, sorting, and reading about Hot Wheels cars, it won't feel like a hobby anymore. It will become a job. As fun as it may seem in the first few months, it will wear you thin at some point.

There are periods when things are silent over at Mattel, and there aren't many new releases to look out for. But the reality is that a new casting, design, or collection usually comes out every few days or even daily. We looked at the new Car Culture 2-Pack mix earlier today. And now it's time to buckle up and prepare for the release of the first Elite64 collectible for 2024.

The 1996 Toyota Chaser JZX100 and the LBWK Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 were two of the most exciting models out of the six vehicles in the 2023 series. I've already seen a glimpse of what's coming up next for Elite64, but let's focus on the topic at hand for now. Fairlady-Z fans will probably know that Mattel has several such castings in its portfolio, spread across multiple series.

The Red Line Club exclusive Custom '72 Datsun 240Z is one of the most coveted models you could buy, with prices upwards of $500 in some cases. The new Elite 64 Datsun 280ZX is not likely to ever become as expensive, but collectors have been ecstatic about it for some time now. And that's because the 1:1 car came first. That's right, Kei Miura's 280ZX showed up at the SEMA Show in 2023, sporting a Hot Wheels livery.

That was a teaser for the 1/64th-scale model, which was on display inside of the car at the time. Instead of using a Nissan engine like an RB unit or an L28 (like we saw in Wangan Midnight), this vehicle is packing a 2JZ powerplant. Aptly named "FormulaZ," we might see the car going sideways at some events later this year.

The tiny replica of the Pandem 280 ZX goes live on Mattel's website on March 22, 2024, at 11 AM PT. Priced at $20, you can only purchase a maximum of two items per account. The best part about it is that it's made out of 20+ pieces and simulates camber thanks to the axle design. You'll see several listings on eBay for it already, ranging from $40 to $65. However, I'd suggest you buy it straight from Mattel first, at least if your country is on the approved shipping list.
