Honda Announces Greatest Car Movie of All Time: The Italian Job

As part of the Honda’s efforts to promote its involvement in the British Touring Car Championship, the company’s dealerships in the UK carried out a survey which looked to find out which is considered to be the greatest car movie of all time. Overtaking masterpieces such as ‘Bullit’, ‘Cannonball Run’ and ‘The Blues Brothers’ was 'The Italian Job’ classic movie.

Yes, we are talking here about the original movie from 1969, not the one in 2003, which starred Charlize Theron, Mark Wahlberg and Jason Statham, among other notable actors. ‘The Italian Job’ was the most popular film among men, with over a third of them going for it Meanwhile, a third of all the female votes went for 1971 musical ‘Grease’.

“Women argue that the key to a good car movie is not the plot but the actor behind the wheel that gets their engine revving, with one quarter of women polled rating a chiseled jaw and bulging muscles above all else,” Honda explained. “Men, on the other hand, believe the key ingredient for an iconic car is down to the authenticity of the plot (26%), rating it twice as important as the number of car stunts (13%) or number of high speed chases (12%).”

As a fresh reminder, the 1969 ‘The Italian Job’ starred Michael Caine as mobster Charlie Croker as he and his team try to intercept a shipment of gold. The car chase scenes featuring red, white and blue Minis tackling the back streets of Turin, while giving birth to memorable film quotes of all time such as “You’re only supposed to blow the bloody doors off” and “Hang on a minute lads, I’ve got a great idea…”
