Various media reports from Australia indicate that Holden is preparing to export the Commodore sedan, which uses the VF codename (we are talkign about the next generation of the car), to the US, with the vehicle set to become the Chevrolet SS.
Holden is expected to introduce the new generation of the Commodore by early 2014, with the Chevy version being based on the V8 model.

In fact, the pathway isn’t new, as the current VE generation of the Commodore was offered in the US as the Pontiac G8 before GM went bankrupt and killed the Pontiac brand. In addition to that, the current Chevrolet Caprice Police car is based on the long-wheelbase version of the Commodore, which also uses the Caprice designation.

Holden is expected to make the official announcement soon and thus we’ll receive more details about the Chevrolet SS then.
