High-Performance Perana Z-One Heads to Geneva

With the 2009 Geneva Auto Show almost imminent, Italian design company Zagato announces the Perana Z-One, a high-performance model to be displayed at the show in March. Beside the fairly impressive figures it provides, a thing worth mentioning about the Z-One is that it is the first model designed by the Italian brand with a South African manufacturer - Perana Performance Group.

And because performance figures are the most important when talking about such a vehicle, you should probably know that the Perana Z-One is powered by a 6.2-liter V8 engine that rolls out a maximum output of no less than 440 horsepower. Mated to a six-speed manual transmission unit, the 2-seater is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h, or if you prefer from 0 to 62 mph, in less than 4 seconds. In addition, it reaches 160 km/h (99.4 mph) in about 10 seconds.

Only 999 cars will be built every year, the manufacturer said, with each of these models to cost 50,000 euros (without including country-specific taxes). The Z-One is expected to go on sale this summer.

As you can see in the photos published below the article, the car looks fairly appealing, with its aerodynamic design likely to play a very important role in achieving the aforementioned figures. While we don't know how many customers would be really interested in buying such a high-performance model, the Z-One is surely going to be one of the main attractions of the upcoming shows.

Details are fairly limited at this point but we'll surely bring new information next week as the 2009 Geneva Auto Show officially opens its doors.
