Hennessey makes some of the best superchargers for American muscle cars out there. The company founded and run by John Hennessey is more than respected, everywhere you go.

And why shouldn't they be? The results posted by their kits are more than just impressive. One of the latest that we caught up with is a Camaro Z/28 that put down no less than 800 HP at the wheels. Yet, it's still disappointing. Why? Because we're supposed to see more, that's why.

Hennessey doesn't play around with numbers when it comes to their products. If John says that his supercharger will make the 7-liter V8 from the Camaro squeeze out 1,000 HP, then we believe him.

However, that's the crank number and, as you know, there will be some losses down the line, by the time the power reaches the wheels. But how much loss should we expect?

Older cars used to lose between 20 and 25 percent of it down the line. With the advancements in technology though, that number went down to 12-15 percent and even lower on some models.

Unfortunately for Camaro owners, it seems like the Z28 loses around 20 percent of it down the line and that's unacceptable in our book and we guess in any customer's book too as a matter of fact.

That's especially true when you think about the amount of work that had to be done in order to get the engine to make that sort of power.

The Hennessey kit includes a massive supercharger, new pistons, rods, valves, injectors, cooling system, headers and even an upgrade for the clutch. Yes, it's a lot of work.
