Smartphones are becoming more and better integrated with our motorcycles, and it looks like the OEM-branded phones are finally debuting this year. A Harley-Davidson-branded phone was spotted at the recent IFA trade affair in Germany, apparently arriving from Italy’s NGM (New Generation Mobile). Yes, THAT NGM, the title sponsor of the very MotoGP Open class Forward Yamaha team which fields Aleix Espargaro and Alex Di Angelis, the latter replacing the retired Colin Edwards.
The H-D phone, with the lettering no longer standing for high definition this time, is a middle-range dual-sim device which will be running Microsoft’s Windows 8.1 operating system right from the box. The phone arrives with a 5” IPS LCD screen with HD resolution (observe the missing dash), 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory. Even though it was not confirmed, the phone’s storage capabilities could be expanded by means of a microSD slot which would accommodate a 32GB card.

A quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor is the brain of the Harley-Davidson phone, most likely running at 1.2 GHz. The main camera is a pretty decent autofocus 8MP unit, equipped with LED flash and backed by a secondary, most likely smaller-resolution one in the front. Unfortunately, this is about all the tech info we currently have on the Harley-Davidson Windows phone.

It is said to become available in Europe first, but no official “in stores” date is known at the moment of writing. The H-D Windows phone is expected a price tag reading €250 ($325), and if sales will look promising, it may also cross the pond, even though by then, a more powerful version could be released.

Now, how about an Android-powered device? And I am mentioning Android because there’s no way Apple would release such an iPhone. Anyway, here’s a really fun app for Yamaha owners, too. More photos on softpedia.
