Hamilton Reaffirms Commitment to McLaren

Lewis Hamilton has reiterated his commitment to the McLaren organization, amid recent reports that he might eye a switch to world champions Red Bull in case his current team doesn't provide him with a title-winning car in 2011.

During the week prior to the season opening Australian Grand Prix, which kicked off on Friday, some reports in the British media hinted that a Hamilton – Red Bull link might be considered by the Austrian team for the 2013 season (since Ham's deal with McLaren runs out at the end of next year).

Hamilton initially addressed those rumors on Wednesday, saying that Red Bull will never compare itself with historic teams such as McLaren and Ferrari, which was another way of saying he's not considering it for anything in the world. Apparently, the 2008 F1 champion has also spoken to team principal Martin Whitmarsh to reassure him of his commitment for the Woking based squad.

I've spoken to Martin today because I wanted to reassure him that I am here at McLaren, that I am committed to the team, committed to winning,” said Ham in a recent interview with Sky News. “I'm not thinking about going elsewhere, I don't have my people going elsewhere and doing any other talking,” added the 26-year old.

In turn, Whitmarsh told the media that he didn't fear at any point that Hamilton would leave the organization, especially since the British ace's entire career in motor racing has been linked to the silver-arrowed team.

It wasn't something I was going to raise with him,” said Whitmarsh, “but it was nonetheless still nice for him to want to clarify his passion and restate his commitment to being in the team.”
