There are carmakers in this world that are constantly in the news, and then there is Pininfarina. The Italians are so special that they rarely make the headlines, but when they do they come packing a mighty punch. After all, not everyone can brag about being the maker of the most powerful road-legal Italian car ever made.
That would be the Battista, a breed of hypercar that was born in 2020 and has been in production since 2022. With just 150 units planned for production, the all-electric beast has all the makings of a nameplate that will endure in automotive history books for ages.

Such a limited production run means only the luckiest among us will get to enjoy driving one of these things. But contrary to what common sense would tell you, there will be people in this world that will own more than one Battista. That's simply because some of the carmaker's customers have already commissioned more than one hypercar for their enjoyment.

How do we know this? The company said as much this week when it revealed a special commission of the Battista called Reversario. It is not just a special commission, but the most unique of its kind made by the carmaker.

The car was paid for by an unnamed customer who already owned "the fifth in the limited run of five Battista Anniversario models." And it was made to be the inverse of that one, at least as far as its visual appearance is concerned.

The first and most noticeable element that sets this hypercar apart is the color scheme, described as one of the most striking elements of the vehicle. It's a combination of Bianco Sestriere gloss on the lower part of the bodywork and Grigio Antonelliano gloss higher up.

The paint scheme does have throwbacks to the Anniversario, in the form of the pinstripes in Iconica Blu. The car's bodywork is dotted with unique inscriptions, including the Reversario name, on the front and rear, on the side wings, and on the underside of the rear wing.

The interior was not left to chance either. The seats of the Battista have been dressed in white-on-white Alcantara quilting over a perforated background in Iconica Blu. Most of the cabin has been specced in black, but the same Iconica Blu is used to accent the cupholder, headliner center bezel, and seatbelts.

To make the car even more special, the Reversario is offered to its owner complete with a three-piece luggage set no one else in this world has, comprising a briefcase, weekend holdall, and suit bag.

Mechanically speaking the Reversario doesn't have an upper edge over the Anniversario, but the powertrain it packs is more than enough to get anyone's blood pumping.

Power for the hypercar is supplied by a 120 kWh lithium-ion battery encased in a carbon-fiber shell. A number of four electric motors, one for each wheel, draw juice from it, delivering a maximum power output of 1,900 horsepower and a heart-stopping 2,340 Nm of torque.

The Battista's top speed is rated at 217 mph (350 kph, but that is only because it is electronically limited), and on the way to that top speed it hits 62 mph from a perfect standstill in just 1.86 seconds. It takes the thing 4.75 seconds to reach 124 mph (200 kph), which is a little more time than most supercars need to reach half that.

The hypercar can keep going on a single charge of the battery for as much as 296 miles (476 kph). Depending on what the driver expects from the car on the way to their destination, it can be configured to operate in one of five driving modes, namely Calma, Pura, Energica, Furiosa, and Carattere.

Pininfarina calls the Battista Reversario its most unique commission to date and a bespoke vehicle that will never be repeated. That also probably makes it incredibly expensive, although no details regarding its price have been provided.

For reference, I'll remind you that the regular (if it can be called that) Pininfarina Battista has a price of $2.2 million. Two special versions were created for it, namely the Battista Nino Farina, which debuted last year at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, and the Anniversario that formed the basis for this here special commission.

Both of these special runs were introduced with just five units planned for production and both these models are said to have been priced at around $3 million.

Aside from the Battista and its special edition incarnations, Pininfarina is also working on two other vehicles. The B95 is described as the world's first hyper Barchetta, and the Pura Vision is intended as a luxury SUV of the electric variety.

Production of the former is expected to start in 2025, while for the latter, at least for the moment, a production run is not even considered.
