Google Maps isn’t only the navigation app that everybody uses on their smartphones and inside the cars, but also a service that lets you explore the world from the comfort of your laptop.
And it goes without saying that all kinds of weird stuff is discovered every once in a while, including a truly unexpected kebab place located on a Norwegian volcanic island in the Arctic Ocean.

As weird as that may sound, Google Maps claims the Jan Mayen island, which is essentially a region with no population because of obvious reasons, is the home of several businesses, including a car dealership, a grocery store, and a kebab place.

Furthermore, as someone noticed on reddit, these businesses also come with quite a lot of reviews, as if the Jan Mayen island is a crowded region where everybody buys cars, goes shopping, and eats kebabs.

There could be several explanations regarding the way these businesses ended up located on an island with no inhabitants.

First and foremost, the whole thing could be powered by bots that are only supposed to generate fake locations and then submit fake reviews. However, a quick search online reveals that some of the businesses there actually exist, only they are located in other parts of the world.

This takes us to the second possible cause of what it’s obviously an error: faulty geolocation. In other words, instead of these businesses showing up in the correct place, they ended up being placed on the map in the middle of nowhere, so it could all be just a matter of time until the owner or Google fixes it.

And then, it could all be just trolls having fun because why not, albeit placing some businesses in a region that not a lot of people are very interested in is a weird way of spending your time on the Internet.
