Google recently announced a major update for Android Auto wireless, as the company resolved a glitch breaking down the connection after the Android 14 update.
If you've been following the Android Auto news in the last couple of months, you probably know that the experience in the car has been quite a mess, mainly due to the update to Android 14.

The new operating system, which landed in the fall of 2023 on the Google Pixel and later on phones from other Android OEMs, broke down key Android Auto features. In December, users started reporting broken connectivity when trying to launch Android Auto without a cable.

Several users confirmed the same behavior in their cars, claiming that switching to a cable was the only way to run Android Auto. However, others explain that even Android Auto wired is broken in cars where the wireless connection is no longer available after the update to Android 14.

It's unclear what caused the connection problems, but all users claimed the issues appeared after they installed Google's latest mobile operating system update on their devices.

A Community Specialist confirmed not long ago that the Android Auto team "identified a solution" for the wireless connection problems. However, the update isn't available yet, as the search giant will include it in a future rollout. It's worth knowing that the Android Auto wireless update won't land as a patch bundled with an upcoming app update, as Google will ship it with an Android OS update. It's an indication Android 14 was the culprit for the error, so Google will resolve it with an update for the operating system.

The Community Specialist did not share an ETA, only promising that the update will go live "soon." Users who installed the most recent Android OS update claim the bug is still there, so Google might need a few more weeks before shipping the patch. Chances are that the March OS update will include it, but I'm still waiting for confirmation in this regard.

The Community Specialist promised to publicly announce when the update becomes available for users, so I'll keep you posted to know when it's time to update.

Meanwhile, no workaround appears to do the trick for all affected users. The most common solution is to return to cables, though the likelihood of fixing Android Auto comes down to multiple factors that only Google could figure out. If you encountered the same glitch and found another solution, please share it with our readers using the box after the jump.

Because the error is caused by Android 14 and not by Android Auto directly, updating to the latest version of the app doesn't help. The most recent build is Android Auto 11.3, with the rollout already happening through the Google Play Store.
