Un siècle d’or de la moto
The title of this piece is exactly what we asked when we first got wind of the awesome exhibit (Un siècle d’or de la moto or A golden century of motorcycles) hosted by the Abbey of Ligugé, just kilometers from Poitiers, in France.
However, there is no joke in all this: the Abbey will host an unique and spectacular exhibition of gold enamel paintings showing no less than 25 iconic motorcycles, both vintage and modern. And that is, the monks of the Ligugé Abbey work hard for an Ariel bike, but they also went on with the likes of the Yamaha V-MAX or the beastly Ducati Diavel.

These stunning paintings are 17x25 cm (6.7" x 9.8") big, with heat-cured enamel on copper plates and made in gold paint. All the paintings are up for purchase, but we have no word on pricing yet. The exhibition runs May 17 through June 30 and the monastery will be open Tuesday-Saturday 10:00 to 11:15 and 14:30 to 18:00, and on Sundays from 11:30 to 12:30 and 15:00 to 18:00.

The paintings will be shipped to their new owners after the exhibit closes at the end of June. Really nice to see that one of Europe's oldest abbeys (said to be founded around 360 AD by Saint Martin) has such mundane ideas on motorcycle art! Tipped by Motorbiker.
