Golay Spierer Legend Racer Watch Released

Race car inspired timepieces seem to be getting all the attention, selling much better than regular ones. Another Swiss watch maker, namely Golay Spierer, decided it is time to join the others and launched a new product that looks nothing like their previous watches: the Legend Racer watch line.

If it looks familiar to you that may be because of their striking similarity with the Tissot race style watches, incorporating design elements and materials from high-tech automobiles. That is the disadvantage of not being the first to come up with the idea....

The caseback looks like a wheel, while the seconds subdial is meant to look like a brake disc moving through a caliper, Luxist reported. Just like on most race cars, carbon fiber elements abound. Then, drilled metal pedals are the chronograph pushers, and the automatic movement rotor is shaped like a race car wheel.

Taking the automotive-inspired design to the extreme, the clasp on the hand-made calf leather and carbon fiber strap are meant to look like a perforated exhaust manifold. The 46mm wide case is available in gold, titanium, steel or of course, carbon fiber.

Powering the watch is a Soprod RM 7750 automatic movement, with a titanium automatic rotor fitted with gold for the needed weight. Golay Spierer used a modified Valjoux 7750 chronograph movement that has been fitted with a power reserve indicator.

The Legend Racer watches will be officially announced next month in Le Castelett, France, with further information yet to follow.
