Former Buell design engineer Jeff Stephens gave up working for others and dedicated all his efforts to his bike-customization passion. And with his dedication for detailed designs and perfection, amazing results were never late.
Jeff received an old Honda CB550K and no boundaries to creativity; even more, he also had a generous budget to build an extreme cafe-racer which would look as great as it rides. And that's how Cafe Overkill was born.
The donor bike's engine was rebuilt entirely, with new Keihin carburetors breathing through K&N pods, and the clutch was reworked to accommodate a hydraulic system. The reservoir for the clutch and front brake has been neatly hidden behind the headlight for a clean, tidy look. Adding an oil sight windows and temperature gauge matches the dash of steampunk design of the Cafe Overkill.
Forking forks got a preload-tuning system and a Ducati fender, while premium Telefix clip-ons have also been installed. Custom tank, seat and exhaust have been made to measure, while massive drilling on the rear hub ensures good drum ventilation and adds serious style points.
After 2 years of painstaking work, the Cafe Overkill is indeed an overkill custom bike and we're surprised how neat the color scheme is, despite using black, chrome, red, gold and silver, which in some cases is a bot too much.
