Britain’s third largest trade union GMB was recently looking to refresh its vehicle fleet and guided by the “buying English” idea, oriented towards getting the Toyota Auris Hybrid model, which is locally produced in Burnaston.
GMB just signed a deal with Toyota Fleet Services for more than 250 Auris Hybrid hatchback and Touring Sports wagon models, which will replace the previously owned Toyota Prii.

“GMB members have supported the union in its actions to improve its environmental impact, and the move over to the Auris represents one of the largest changes we have made to meet that demand.” said GMB general secretary Paul Kenny.

Both vehicles are exclusively built at Toyota Manufacturing UK’s factory in Burnaston, Derbyshire, featuring high-efficiency 1.8-liter hybrid powertrains made in TMUK’s other plant located in Deeside, North Wales.
