American manufacturer GM's Performance Parts division announced yesterday the availability of a new version of the E-ROD crate engine, tweaked into being mated to manual-transmissions. The price for the new toy is $9,375.
According to GM, the package includes all of the same parts as the original, automatic-transmission-calibrated package, with the only difference being the electronic control module’s programming.
The crate engine kit includes a 6.2-liter LS3 crate engine, developing 430 horsepower and 424 lb.-ft. of torque, GMPP LS3 engine wiring harness, GMPP engine control module, exhaust manifolds, catalytic converters, oxygen sensors and sensor bosses, fuel tank evaporative emissions canister, mass airflow sensor and sensor boss, accelerator pedal and an air filter.
Of course, once buying the E-ROD, you will also need to fit it under the hood. To make the DIY kit easier to assemble, GM recommends the following parts to make the crate engine and tranny fit together: Camaro LS3 six-speed manual transmission, flywheel, flywheel bots (six of them), pilot bearing, pressure plate and pressure plate bots (also six) and a release bearing.
Along with all the above mentioned parts, the buyer of an E-ROD crate engine will also need fuel system components and front-end accessory drive system.
The crate engine comes with a 24-month/50,000-mile warranty, while the components to be used with it are covered by a 12-month/12,000-mile warranty.
