Twinned with the Silverado 1500 pickup, the Tahoe and roomier Suburban are now available to configure for the 2024 model year. The automaker's website lists $56,200 as the starting price of the smaller utility vehicles, with the Suburban kicking off at $59,200.
What's new for 2024, though? General Motors kindly provided the retail and fleet order guides, which show no differences compared to the 2023 model year, save for the deletion of the Auburn Metallic paint color.
Its discontinuation means that prospective customers have a grand total of nine finishes to choose for the 2024 model year, beginning with Radiant Red Tintcoat and Iridescent Pearl Tricoat. The remainder comprises Dark Ash Metallic, Silver Sage Metallic, Summit White, Black, Empire Beige Metallic, Midnight Blue Metallic, and Sterling Gray Metallic.
Manufactured at the Arlington assembly plant in Texas, the Tahoe and Suburban are $2,000 pricier than before. All trims carry the hefty increase, which is a bit depressing because you're not getting more standard kit over the 2023 model year. As if that wasn't bad enough, General Motors further hiked up the destination freight charge by $100.
In other words, base pricing is up $2,100 from the 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe and 2023 Chevrolet Suburban. What kind of money is Ford charging for the Expedition? At the moment of reporting, it's $55,525 for the regular wheelbase or $62,590 for the Expedition Max, plus $1,895 for the freight charge.

Gifted with seating for up to 8, the Armada carries a starting price of $55,450 (and $1,895 for the DFC). 2024 is the final year of the V8-powered Armada. Not long now, the body-on-frame SUV will get a twin-turbocharged V6 with – allegedly – 424 horsepower on deck. Of course, Nissan will also upgrade from the current automatic to the nine-speed unit found in the Titan and Frontier pickup trucks. The niner is also shared with the slow-selling Z sports car.
Turning our attention back to General Motors, the small block isn't going away from the Tahoe and Suburban. The Cadillac brand may have a 750-horsepower electric Escalade in the offing, but General Motors also committed millions of dollars to the series production of next-generation small blocks.
Similar to the switch from gen four to gen five, the gen six will follow an evolutionary path. Although nothing concrete is known about the final iteration of the long-running small block, it's likely that General Motors will combine direct and port fuel injection.
The Detroit-based automaker did that with the LT5 of the 2019 model year Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, an engine that didn't see any other application beyond the 755-horsepower 'Vette. For the C8, however, the ZR1 is going flat-plane crank and twin turbo for anything between 800 and 850 ponies on full song.
