GM doesn’t miss any opportunity to stick it to its rivals, and so they’ve recently issued a statement saying their OnStar FMV wireless system assisted in there recovery of a vehicle made by a direct competitor - a 2006 Chrysler 300.
As the story goes, the owner of the car, Jean Franklin of Gresham, Oregon, fitted the device to her mirror on December 16th, and her car was stolen only two days later on a Sunday. Her car was record and the suspect placed into custody within 64 minutes of her call being placed with OnStar.
"OnStar advisors typically assist in the recovery of more than 500 stolen General Motors’ vehicles each month, but helping to recover a competitor's stolen vehicle is a new undertaking," GM said in a statement.
"The stolen vehicle feature is the reason I purchased [OnStar FMV],” said Franklin. “My car had been stolen before, so the police recommended I get it. I am much more comfortable now that the car has OnStar.”
