Unfortunately for those waiting to see the car in the flesh (the model was announced ever since May last year), Tata will be displaying only two quarter-scale models of the G2 and a video animation of the car.
The details announced by the Indian auto maker last year point to the G2 being built using the tech put into the G1, an electric conversion of a Ford Focus. It will feature an electric motor, battery string, battery management system, safety system, HVAC, controller and instrumentation (more details will probably be announced next week).
The G2 will be launched, at a yet undetermined date, in two-door and four-door versions. Genovation plans to build 1,000 units a year, using pods that require only a few robots for assembly.
Unlike its competitors, Genovation said, the G2 and all other possible future models will be built after a “better understanding of the requirements of its clientele.” It plans to sell the model to all type of customers, families, state/ local government agencies or corporations.
"The G2 is designed to be easily maintained at the dealership level; as opposed to the many sophisticated hybrid cars available today from major manufacturers that require highly-trained factory supported teams to maintain certain parts of the technology," said Andrew Saul, Genovation Cars CEO.
