Genovation EVs to Use K2 Batteries

Genovation Cars, an eco vehicle producer based in Maryland, announced that it will team up with K2 Energy Solutions, whit the latter providing battery packs for its range of electric vehicles.

"We are very pleased to be working with K2 Energy to develop the battery packs for our electric automobiles," said Andrew Saul, Genovation CEO. "We did an extensive search and we came to the conclusion that K2's green, energy-dense, and safe lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) battery packs are perfect for our needs."

The prime contractor for the design and prototyping of Genovation's G2 model, Tata Technologies, considered using a K2 battery pack when designing the vehicle. In addition to that, the DANA Corporation, which designed the G2’s Thermal Management System, also anticipated the use of the battery.

The K2 battery systems rely on a lithium iron phosphate cathode material, which combines a high level of safety with a low cost. K2 offers large format battery packs and systems, developing catering for specific customer needs.

"K2 scientists and engineers have been involved in the development of lithium ion battery technologies over the last decade and Genovation's choice of K2 as its supplier for its G2 model is further validation of the utility of K2's proprietary technology in EV applications," said Johnnie Stoker, CEO of K2.  "The growing number of uses we're seeing for our lithium ion batteries further propels the expanding awareness of the economic and other benefits of our chemistry. We look forward to its application by innovators like Genovation."
