A couple of days ago, we told you that a real-life version of the smart Roadster, which was trademarked by the German company at the beginning of the year, could be heading to Geneva. It appears that this is indeed the case, as a full set of images have been released, showing the electric concept (which is now known as the Forspeed) that will make its official debut at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show next month. The roofless creation is reminiscent of the Crossblade, which saw limited production some years back. But the Forspeed, will not make it into production, instead serving as a design preview for the next generation fortwo and the resurrected forfour five-door model. To further emphasize the fact that this is a concept, smart has fitted it with some outlandish-looking lights, no exterior door handles, and a toneau that can cover the entire interior or just the passenger side if you get caught in the rain. According to the German company, the Forspeed comes with a 41 hp electric motor that can push the car all the way up to 37 miles per hour (60 km/h) in just 5.5 seconds. Meanwhile, the top speed is rated at 75 mph (120 km/h), so the Speedster is not really built for speed, but rater the sensation of it. At least the concept manages to hit 37 mph a second faster than the standard fortwo ED, on which it is based. Range is estimated to be 85 miles on a full charge, while the batteries can be “filled” 80 percent in just 45 minutes. autoevolution will be attending the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
